Hi my name is Ananda. This is my media blog which I have used to make different posts, and where I have shown the process of each of the tasks that I have completed. Here you are able to see the work I have created (Research and Planning) leading up to my Ancillary task and my Final Product.

Hi my name is Ananda. This is my media blog which I have used to make different posts, and where I have shown the process of each of the tasks that I have completed. Here you are able to see the work I have created (Research and Planning) leading up to my Ancillary task and my Final Product.
For our costume ideas I decided to use Photoshop so that I could make a collage of the outfits for each of the characters in our trailer. I also annotated these collages to explain our reasons for choosing these items of clothing. Stalker's CostumeIn many parts of the world the term “hoodie” is related to teenagers who have stormed the streets of cities and towns, causing fear and participating in crimes including murder. The hoodie is still used today to represent these negative aspects. It allows the audience to identify who the 'villain' is in the film. The reason why the hoodie is so commonly used is because the character utilizes it to cover their face and hide their identity. Chelsea's CostumeMake-upFor make-up I created a board on Pinterest where I pinned images of the make-up I found was best suited for Chelsea's character. A few of he images pinned are random, some are of actresses from thriller films. The make-up is mostly minimalistic and simple, I found that this is the common trend in this genre of film, as it makes the actress appear tired/distressed. A thriller usually contains unfortunate events, therefore dramatic make up e.g. blue eyeshadow and red lips, is not necessary for our film.
For this task I asked myself which words would be best to explain the plot of our film as a whole (not just the trailer). Above you can see a summary using just 25 words to describe our film trailer. I used this font to present this task as I feel it fits well with the genre of our film - Thriller. This font was found under a section name 'Disturbed' on a font generator website. Underground Films and ACS decided to come together to experiment with Camera Shots. To do this we used a Dolly and we demonstrated a variety of shots, some of which we had already used last year in A2 and others that were new to us.

Once we have finished our Trailer we then have to think about the marketing of our film. For this, I looked at a variety of different film posters which I thought were effective.
The second convention of thriller posters that I noticed was the layout of the poster and the font used for the title and other text. The majority of the time the main title is at the bottom of the poster and the subject of the poster is usually the protagonist of the movie. In the images of the posters above, you can see a pattern where the poster gives a way a bit of the film with either a question or a statement: 'Who do you trust?' What will you sound like when you die?' 'Someone is missing' All of these conventions are what we will take into account when creating our ancillary task. This way it is clear to our audience what genre our film is an it gives them an idea on what our film will be about. The Devil Inside Poster AnalysisThe Silence of the Lambs Poster AnalysisHere are some images that we posted on our Instagram of the first day of filming our trailer. My group and I all came together at our friend Summer's house. We felt that her house had the right kind of setting, especially her bathroom. We needed to use her shower as she had a clear shower door and myself, Issey and Tia don't have one. This was essential as we needed it for the scene where Chelsea is in the shower and the stalker is creeping up behind her. We posted videos of the filming that we did. This way, the audience who were interested to know more about the film, could look at the behind the scenes. Snapchat is a great use of promotion and advertisement as its such a popular app, and its easily accessible. Therefore, potential viewers of the film can be reminded of the film every now and then. Below you can see our Snapchat Story from the day. To gain inspiration and an insight on how magazine covers are laid out, and what the average magazine cover shows, I looked at various film magazines. From looking at these different magazine covers it has made it easier for me to come up with ideas for when my group create a magazine cover for our film. Below, I have analysed two of my favourite covers from from Empire Magazine. Empire - Suicide SquadEmpire - Inception |
